BIO

Chris Roberts, aka That Trumpet Guy, has been an award-winning high school and middle school band director, professional trumpet player, music arranger, college mathematics instructor, software engineer, and is currently a Vice President of Information Technology.

Chris received his bachelor’s degree in music education in 1994 from Henderson State University.  While at Henderson, he studied with trumpet professors Dr. James Buckner and Mr. Don Kramer and was under the baton of Mr. Wendall O. Evanson and Mr. David Rollins.  Chris received the Mae Whipple Most Outstanding Performer scholarship in 1993.

Chris directed bands in Texas where he was instrumental in guiding each performing group to superior ratings in every event entered.  The students that Chris has taught privately have been successful in everything from band camp tryouts to all-state auditions.

In addition to his degree in music education, Chris received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mathematics and has taught college math in both Arkansas and Texas.

Chris’ passion for music education directly led to the publication of this book in hopes that many aspiring musicians can benefit from a proven method of preparing for tryouts, auditions, and performances of all types.

Chris has performed with the South Arkansas Symphony, Arkansas Brass Quintet, and served as principal trumpet in the HSU Marching Band, Symphonic Band, and Jazz Ensemble.  While teaching music in Texas, Chris' private lesson students were named to the Texas all-state band, some as young as 9th graders, due to the system documented in How to Make First Chair.
